Robert J. Kruse, 91, of Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Sanford Centennial Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, S.D.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 2300 S. West Ave., in Sioux Falls.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Westlawn Memorial Park, 3826 W. Stolley Park Road in Grand Island.
Robert John Kruse, son of John L. and Elsie (Kutscher) Kruse, was born May 17, 1927, in Grand Island. He attended country school, Grand Island High School and Grand Island Business College.
He was united in marriage with A. Jeanne Carter on June 4, 1950. In this union they were blessed with three children: Kathryn, Carol and John.
His entire professional career was spent with International Harvester. The family lived in Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa before making their final move to Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1971. He retired in 1982.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls and the Elks Club. He liked solving the world’s problems with his coffee buddies. His entire life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, especially raising wonderful tomatoes.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Jeanne; a son, John (Jessica) Kruse; three grandchildren, Jenna, Jeremiah (Miranda), and Elijah Kruse; two stepgrandchildren, Stephen Kruse and Sunshine (Kevin) Clay; one great-granddaughter; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and two daughters, Kathryn and Carol.
